Lalimentari confirms its vocation to be not only a place for meeting and conviviality, but also a space dedicated to creativity and the enhancement of emerging artists. From May 19, the premises will host a new exhibition dedicated to the works of Cristian Basile, a contemporary artist from Bergamo who is the protagonist of three-dimensional visual research capable of fusing art, design and emotion.
Born in 1987 in the province of Bergamo, in Caravaggio, Cristian Basile is today considered one of the most original and surprising voices in Italian contemporary art. His creative path was born from the encounter between the world of design, furniture and artistic experimentation, developing over the years a personal and immediately recognizable language.
His works are distinguished by the use of innovative materials such as resins, recycled ABS plastic from the automotive industry, and fluorescent paints, which allow the artist to push the boundaries of two-dimensionality to create works suspended between sculpture and design. Each creation thus becomes a multisensory narrative, where subject and frame dialogue in perfect harmony.
Matter, symbol and emotion represent the central elements of Basile’s poetics. His dense and layered textures invite the audience to an almost tactile observation, while the visual language oscillates between abstraction and symbolism.
Among the artist’s most iconic works are the #ArtMonkeys, anthropomorphic monkeys characterized by a strong chromatic and material impact. Not mere aesthetic exercises, but works that explore the duality of the human being: instinct and rationality, primal energy and reflection coexist in a powerful and dynamic balance. Through great technical mastery, Basile thus succeeds in transforming everyday materials into works vibrant with meaning.
The artistic working of glass will be the focus of the capsule on display created in collaboration with Elisa Cremona, an artist born in 1986, also from Caravaggio, who blends traditional craftsmanship and contemporary research in her creations. In fact, the works on display are born from the use of the Tiffany technique, an ancient glassmaking technique conceived in the late 19th century by Louis Comfort Tiffany and reinterpreted today through a modern sensibility.
Elisa Cremona inherited a passion for this technique from her father, learning its basics until she transformed it into a personal creative path. After studies in advertising graphics and various work experiences, the artist chose to devote herself completely to her own artistic workshop, where she makes works on demand and decorative glass creations. The Tiffany technique calls for each individual piece of glass to be cut according to a precise design, finished with a thin adhesive copper tape and then soldered with tin, allowing for light, detailed compositions rich in light play. Distinctive elements of the works are the use of opalescent and polychrome glass and the ability to create refined and dynamic light effects.
The exhibition will thus offer the public an opportunity to discover a capsule in which two contemporary techniques merge, resulting in works that transform glass into fragments of light and matter capable of dialoguing with space and the viewer.
The evening will also be an opportunity to discover “Vigna Drezza,” the new label from Castello di Grumello, a historic winery in Bergamo. It is a Metodo Classico Extra Brut sparkling wine produced in Val Pontida, which recently entered the winery’s selection, an expression of the winery’s growing interest in quality bubbles from the Bergamo area.
The exhibition will be on view from May 18 during venue opening hours until August 31.
