The Celadina has the distinction of being the only mansion built and inhabited by the Tasso family that has come down to us intact since the 1500s. The Devil’s Gate in fact introduces us to the large estate in which the villa was immersed. Here the artistic and architectural wealth, legible in the enfilade of rooms, frescoes and stuccoes, is intertwined with the international history of the Tasso family, which, in the service of Popes and Emperors organized for centuries the postal activities between the various states therefore, promoting contacts between the peoples of Europe, laid the foundations of Europe itself. Their activity was a source of great wealth and nobility and the Cultural Association “… in the name of the badgers…” will also illustrate how the postal activity, is the basis of communication that allows the spread of culture and is a stimulus of the evolution of human society. One cannot forget among the various literary Tasso’s, his cousin Torquato, author of the” Gerusalemme Liberata,” fellow student of the young Tasso’s from Celadina who hosted him here in various circumstances. The Tasso, Tassis, Thurn und Taxis are today the only family of Bergamo origin that, flanking with their activity, Popes and Emperors, boasts European esteem and diffusion.
