The 18th-century parish church of Cenate Sotto, dedicated to Saint Martin the Bishop, houses a collection of precious paintings, the result of a succession of commissions that still today bear witness to a past in which certain wealthy families contributed with devotion and generosity to the decoration of this sacred building. Among the works, the altarpiece by Giovan Battista Moroni stands out for its quality and renown; it is a late masterpiece by the renowned painter from Bergamo. The tour is rounded out by the small parish museum, housed in the sacristy, which holds a select collection of paintings featuring famous names in Lombard art, including Antonio Cifrondi, Carlo Ceresa, and Giuseppe Nuvolone. Alongside the paintings, a small collection of liturgical objects is also on display, dating from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
The tour is led by cultural mediators from the Adriano Bernareggi Foundation.
