The U-ART-P Association officially announces the establishment of the “U-ART-P Brera Photo Prize,” a new award dedicated to contemporary photography and the enhancement of emerging talents from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. The initiative celebrates the historic Milanese institution on the prestigious anniversary of its 250th anniversary, while emphasizing how the language of photography is today a privileged means of investigation for interpreting the complexities of the present, between memory, identity and social change.
Born from the close synergy between the Association and the professors of the Biennium of Photography – in particular Paola Di Bello, Eva Frapiccini, Cosmo Laera and Alessandra Spranzi – the prize is a concrete cultural investment. The goal is to create a meeting point between academic training and the art system, putting students, collectors and professionals in direct dialogue.
The heart of the project is the group exhibition hosted at THE PLACE space in Bergamo, where the works of eight artists selected for their expressive maturity will be on display from May 16 to September 12. Throughout the exhibition period, visitors will be able to actively participate by expressing their preference for the audience prize.
At the same time, an exceptional jury-composed of experts such as Ilaria Campioli, Cristiano Cavallo, Oliviero Falconi, Tommaso Parrillo and Claudia Santeroni-will evaluate the works for the awarding of the two acquisition prizes. These works will become part of U-ART-P’s permanent collection, contributing to the creation of an archive dedicated to new photography.
The tour will conclude on September 12 with the finissage of the exhibition and the official announcement of the winners.
