The “Notes from a 20-Year Journey” series presents one of the most significant events in its history dedicated to choral music. The star of the evening will be MaxVokal from Munich, a youth choir founded within the prestigious MaxChor of St. Maximilian and conducted by Maestro Gerald Häußler, accompanied by the Orobica Chamber Orchestra. The program pairs Antonio Vivaldi’s famous “Gloria”—one of the most beloved works in the Baroque sacred repertoire—with the “Stabat Mater for Mariupol,” an original composition by Bergamo-based composer Lucio Mosé Benaglia, presented for the first time in Italy. The work, structured as a sweeping fresco of fourteen movements that alternate between choir, solo voices, and orchestra, reinterprets the famous text of the Stabat Mater in light of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Through intense and richly contrasting musical writing, the composition takes the audience on a musical journey that blends contemplation, drama, and hope, offering a contemporary interpretation of one of the most significant texts in the Christian tradition.
