Located in Nembro and arranged on the hill, from the outside there is a very beautiful view of the entire valley.
It can be reached by a not too strenuous walk, and along the mule track up to the church are the tribulines of the Mysteries of the Rosary.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Zuccarello was founded in 1374 by the will of the nobleman Bernardo Vitalba and remained the property of the Vitalba family until the mid-19th century.
It was originally built as a simple chapel leaning against the walls of the aristocratic mansion, and the first extension was made around the 16th century and the last one dates back to the early decades of the 20th century.
The exterior facade has a wide portico with three pointed arches, and the church inside has a single nave divided into three bays.
Numerous works of art are preserved in the sanctuary: numerous frescoes, such as the Nativity by Enea Salmeggia, the figures of St. Donato and St. Francis by Francesco Cavagna, and on the high altar the fresco called Our Lady of Sorrows, the Pietà whose author’s name is unknown but it is only known that he was of Bergamo origin.
Restoration of the complex around the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Zuccarello, where the patronal feast is celebrated on August 8, was completed in 2004.
