In the beating heart of Bergamo Alta, set like a precious gem, stands Palazzo Terzi, a historic mansion that narrates centuries of art, culture and noble traditions.
Its history is rooted in two important marriages that marked the different stages of its construction: the union between Marquis Luigi Terzi and the young Paola Roncalli in 1631, and, more than a century later, that between Marquis Gerolamo Terzi and Giulia Alessandri. These events were not only celebrations of love, but also the beginning of an architectural epic that has made Palazzo Terzi a symbol of Bergamo.
The first construction phase saw the light of day with the building of the facade and southern wing of the palace. Later, the second phase expanded the square in front, creating a scenic space that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of the place. Crossing the entrance threshold, the eye is immediately enraptured by the magnificent terraced garden, a work of art spread over several levels that offers a breathtaking view of the lower town and the surrounding hills.
The interiors of Palazzo Terzi are a triumph of art and pageantry. The Salottino degli Specchi, the Sala Rossa, and the Salone d’Onore are just a few examples of the treasures it holds, prized vestiges of 18th-century baroque.
