From Friday, June 5, through Oct. 25, 2026, with opening tomorrow at 5 p.m., the Civic Archaeological Museum is hosting the photo exhibition “Nature and Archaeology in the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento” by Cristina Omentetto.
A visual journey through nature, history and spirituality in the heart of Sicily. This is the theme of this photographic project dedicated to one of the Mediterranean’s most extraordinary cultural landscapes, where olive, almond and carob trees have coexisted for centuries with the monumental remains of ancient Akragas.
Through refined research, the author explores the profound relationship between trees and temples, restoring to the visitor a poetic and contemplative vision of the Sicilian Valley. The images tell of a place where the power of nature and the memory of classical civilization intertwine in a continuous dialogue, evoking a dimension of sacredness that spans time.
Cristina Omenetto observes this landscape with a gaze that is authentically secular but capable of capturing its symbolic and spiritual value. In her photographs, the twisted trunks of centuries-old olive trees, the branches reaching toward the sky and the columns of temples seem to belong to a single narrative, made of roots, memory and tension toward the infinite.
