In the darkness of the evening, in the heart of the Upper Town, a path winds its way through the history of Bergamo and tells the story of how scholars, historians, and archaeologists have managed to bring it to light. Remains from the Roman and medieval eras—which speak to daily life and religious faith—offer a unique perspective into which to immerse oneself, allowing visitors to imagine a bygone era and observe the millennia-old layers of Bergamo’s Christian heritage. As you walk through the underground chambers of the Old Cathedral, exploring them by torchlight alone, you’ll be able to relive the experience of the archaeologists who, in 2004, discovered the foundations of the ancient early Christian cathedral of San Vincenzo.
At the end of the tour, you’ll have the chance to walk through the museum with the lights on and see it in a whole new light.

The tour will be led by the young cultural heritage guides from Le Vie del Sacro.
