The Sanctuary of Lavello

For six hundred years its spring has been said to be miraculous.
Believe it or not, you still cannot remain unmoved by the colors of its frescoes!

At Foppenico di Calolziocorte, on the edge of the ancient San Martino Valley, stands the sanctuary of Lavello.
The origins of the church go back a long way.
It is said that a small church dedicated to the Virgin existed next to a stately castle in 1014.

In 1480, when the church was being enlarged, a hermit discovered a sarcophagus and a spring that turned out to be miraculous.
Since then, numerous prodigious events have been attributed to Our Lady.
