The Restaurant
In the heart of Colle Aperto in Città Alta, nestled directly on the Venetian Walls – a UNESCO Heritage Site, Ristorante La Marianna in Bergamo embodies the history of the region. For years, the Panattoni family’s work method and approach to hospitality have been guided by a philosophy centered on welcoming guests, summed up in a motto: “Sharing flavor with friends is tradition.”
With a charming and traditional dining room and a terrace featuring a meticulously maintained hanging garden, the restaurant is located in front of the Tower of Adalberto, on the upper floor above the pastry shop, known for inventing Stracciatella ice cream in the 1960s.
The Chef
Salvatore De Angelis
Young and of Neapolitan origin, Chef Salvatore expresses his desire to experiment through his dishes. His cuisine always starts with local tradition, sometimes influenced by southern touches.
The establishment, which opened in 1952, was initially just a bar and trattoria specializing in typical Tuscan dishes. Today, it is complemented by the renowned pastry shop.
Right from the start, Salvatore captivated the people of Bergamo by offering specialties such as ribollita and Florentine steak, typical of classic and traditional Tuscan cuisine. Since the 1980s, he has embarked on a path of culinary experimentation that continues to delight.
For every dish, the use of genuine and, whenever possible, local ingredients is a primary commitment. Here, each offering can be paired with a wide selection of prestigious labels, starting with the world-famous Tuscan Reds.
