A power plant or a castle?
As you ride along the beautiful bicycle path along the Adda River at Trezzo, you might be caught by this doubt.
The long, low structure is indeed reminiscent of the Visconti castle located on the hill above it.
It was the far-sighted businessman Crespi who wanted his new power plant to be built in harmony with the surrounding landscape.
The architect, Gaetano Moretti, therefore decided to use the same stone employed centuries earlier in the construction of the pre-existing fortification and to build his power plant with shapes that recalled medieval battlements.
The result is one of the most fascinating buildings of the entire belle époque, as well as perhaps of all industrial architecture!
The power plant is still in operation, providing electricity to several areas in the provinces of Lecco, Milan and Bergamo since 1904.
Now home to an interactive museum dedicated to energy, it is the renewables with their voices that will engage tourists in this unique experience in Italy.
Since 2019, Enel and the Pro Loco of Trezzo have been guaranteeing access to this facility, with guided tours given by competent and trained staff.
The initially hypertechnological and interactive experience returns in the footsteps of a guided tour with the sound of energy rising from the turbine in the access generator room.
The experience is especially recommended for families with children and schools.
ENEL GREEN POWER for service needs reserves the right to postpone or cancel the visit even on the same day and nothing is due for expenses incurred.
