Here, organic has always been a “mission”: every day the Lazzarini family works with the goal of making organic not a choice for a small elite, but an opportunity for everyone, producing with the least wasteful costs in order to keep prices affordable, without affecting product quality and worker compensation. Current production is aimed mainly at seasonal vegetables, but also roasted red corn for polenta and fodder for livestock use. Special attention is paid to the recovery of ancient vegetable varieties, with an intense and unique taste but low production yield, whose cultivation had been gradually abandoned in favor of more intensive agriculture.
From the beginning, the company focused on the direct sale of products, trying to reduce the distances between the city and the countryside. The short supply chain, the strong point of Avicenna.bio’s production, currently allows it to regularly supply numerous G.A.S. (Solidarity Purchasing Groups), as well as specialized stores and school canteens.
