In a natural amphitheater among the hills of Scanzorosciate, in the province of
Bergamo, stands the Martinelli – Cascina San Giovanni winery. Daniela, the
hostess, receives her guests in the new semi-hypogean winery
built by the property, which is best integrated with the spacious outdoor spaces
in the beautiful setting of a hilly vineyard landscape. Visitors feel
immediately at home thanks to the friendly atmosphere that distinguishes the
welcome on the farm.
The vineyard soils of Cantina Martinelli – Cascina San Giovanni, are rich in
Sass de Luna, a marly limestone formation that give
Moscato di Scanzo unique organoleptic characteristics, extrapolated from the
subsoil. This is where the grapes destined to be transformed into the famous Docg are born.
Every year, between late September and early October, the
sweet scent of ripe grapes wafts through the air as they are harvested in the vineyard and brought to the winery for the
drying process. The winery also produces other labels
such as Moscato Giallo di San Giovanni, Eremita, a blend of Moscato di
Scanzo and Cabernet Sauvignon, Brut Ros-â Ros-ae Charmat Method with
Moscato di Scanzo grapes, Metodo Classico Sass de Luna 100% Chardonnay,
aged Moscato grappa and Napoleon Gin di Scanzo. Visitors
have ample space available for both convivial gatherings and
corporate meetings and team building.
The farm is always open for sale, while for tours and tastings it opens by appointment only.
