Bergamo is a city surrounded by greenery, from the many urban parks to the large Parco dei Colli di Bergamo, the vast protected natural area that, since the 1970s, has encompassed the city and 9 surrounding municipalities.
With its forests, vineyards and ancient monasteries, the Park is an ideal destination for outdoor activities, whether short walks or slightly more challenging hikes.
Alongside this wealth of landscape, Bergamo boasts two botanical gardens: the“Lorenzo Rota” Botanical Garden, in Città Alta, which houses more than 1,200 plant species, and the Astino – Valley of Biodiversity section, which arose in the former Vallombrosian monastery and is dedicated mainly to biodiversity and traditional agricultural crops.
A green heritage that makes the city unique.
