In 1879, Heinrich von Wunster founded the von Wunster beer in Seriate (BG). After its closure during World War I, the brewery reopened in 1936 in Bergamo as Birra Orobia, in line with fascist laws regarding Italian names. In the 1960s, it became Birra Wunster Spa, growing until its relocation to Comun Nuovo (BG) in the 1980s. Sold in 1986 to Stella Artois and then to Heineken, the revival of artisanal production took place in 2011, under the guidance of Alberto von Wunster.
